AW18 SILVER METALLICS TREND // INTU DERBY WELCOME TO OUR WORLD

One of the most prominent and let's be honest attention grabbing of the AW18 trends shown back at Fashion Week was that the key colour for this party season is SILVER. Be it Balmain's holographic PVC suits, Paco Rabanne's giant sequin mini dresses or Givenchy's metallic statement fringe frocks the catwalks were sparkling, but I can't honestly say that any of these looks would make it into heavy rotation in my wardrobe.

Not one to say no to a challenge however I was pretty determined to find myself a shimmering look that was a little more low key and hopefully one that I'd be as happy throwing on for a lunch date with a girlfriend as for a festive tipple at my favourite bar. The shopping gods were definitely on my side when I headed to intu Derby for a spree and one of the first things I spotted was a twinkle in the corner of New Look that turned out to be the Cameo Rose Black Metallic Mesh Crop Top (£12.99). This is a good example of something I tell all my plus size friends - just because something isn't in the plus range but looks like it'll fit give it a go! This lovely slinky long sleeved number only went up to a size 16 so significantly smaller than my size 26 body, but I actually really love how fitted it is and that it makes it a true cropped style. A simple black cami was all that was needed underneath and then it was on to finding the rest of the look.

The first thing that popped into my mind was a pair of black jeans with silver embroidery or hardware detailing or maybe some metallic plisse wide leg trousers, that was until I noticed this Curve Pleated Maxi Skirt (£45.00*) in Marks and Spencer. The subtle metallic sheen to it is beautiful and echos the sparkle of the top without it looks over the top and the fabric is so luxurious. On my 5'8'' frame this is more of a midi than a maxi skirt but this is even better for me as I adore a midi skirt with ankle boots in the Winter. As you can see I've still not completely given in to boots season and I decided to carry on the glitzy theme with these Puma Basket Heart White Metallic Trainers (£69.99*) that I picked up in Office - aren't the oversized satin ribbon laces just adorable?!

The finishing touch for an Autumn party ensemble is of course a jacket to throw on when the chill becomes too much! I just don't think you can beat a biker style jacket for versatility and effortless chic and I added a touch of extra by popping a faux fur collar on this New Look Curves Black Leather Look Biker Jacket (£34.99*).

Please keep your eyes out for the next post in my collaboration series with intu Derby on their #welcometoourworld campaign, I'll be talking catwalk make up trends and how to make them wearable for every day!
