BLENDING IN AND STANDING OUT

Another year has gone by yet and I'm still finding new outfit combinations to fall in love with - isn't fashion grand? My latest obsession is teaming a maxi dress with a mid length jacket, not original I know but a new one to me and something that can be styled in so many different ways depending on the style of jacket that you choose!

I actually wore this exact maxi dress with lace panels to the Curve Fashion Festival in September but at that time teamed it with my beloved pink blazer by Arched Eyebrow x navabi that I had embellished with petrol metallic beading and a patch to the back and it was a great choice for the event, really comfortable yet different. That time it looked more refined and smart with the formal cut of the blazer and I knew I wanted to try it with something more casual and unexpected.

Sadly this particular maxi dress is now sold out but this look would work with anything that has a nice full skirt, especially if there is unusual detailing to the skirt like this one's vertical lace panelling. Then this beautifully distressed Sarah Ashcroft Khaki Camo Oversized Jacket from In The Style Curve (£44.99*) landed on my doorstep and I knew it was the perfect thing to contrast with the dressy maxi.

When they say this jacket is oversized they aren't kidding, which is great because it will easily fit someone one or two sizes bigger than the marked size. The fabric is sturdy yet soft meaning that the frayed edging will stand the test of time so you can wear it for many seasons to come. Camo is one of those prints that never seems to be really in fashion but also never out of it and looks great both in casual looks or dressed up for an unanticipated smart casual outfit. The high vis stripe to the back is another lovely detail that would also prove most useful when wandering back home after a few drinkies in town!

I decided to nip my waist in with a belt here but I also really like leaving the jacket to hang open for an even more too cool for school aura.
