Isn't it wonderful how trends you thought may never come back around have a tendency to pop back up when you least expect it? Although embellishments have always been a staple of occasion wear it's been a long while I think since they have been a part of everyday fashion. It makes me think of the beautiful blouses my ever stylish Granny used to wear and so it's a nostalgic love of mine that I'm thrilled to see back on the catwalks.
This gorgeous Premium Embellished Shirt (£99.00*) by ELVI is a perfect example of why this brand is so wonderful. They give us plus ladies a chance to own really luxurious, classy pieces with a touch of contemporary chic. For example the colour and heavy pearl embellishing to this shirt is so classic and unmistakably vintage inspired; yet the boxy cut, dropped shoulders and the paneling of the bead work is so modern. Far from being stuffy or over the top it's a beautiful piece that could be worn in a smart casual manner as I am here, with jeans for a relaxed look or with a perfectly tailored skirt or pair of trousers and heels for a fancier soiree.
I couldn't resist adding this vintage brooch to the collar as to me it reminds me so much of my Grandma Joyce, set off with pearl drop earrings. To keep it from looking stuffy I went with some relaxed past season jersey trousers from Simply Be which have a subtle pattern that slightly echoes the beading to the shirt, plus some contemporary asymmetrical flats and a dash of red lippy. This is one of those outfits that is not flattering but still looks wonderful, which is the kind of outfit I really adore.
