Winter Walks

It seems just typical that when I'm all up for a nice wintery walk the sun suddenly comes out and it's like a breezy summers day! I've been planning this walk for a few weeks now ever since Bon Prix got in contact to see if I'd like to take part in their Affordable Winter Walks challenge because it was the perfect excuse for a trip to one of the woods in my local area of Charnwood in Leicestershire. We're very lucky living this close to such beautiful landscapes and so many pretty woodland walking trails but I'm forever kicking myself for not taking better advantage of this. Unfortunately today's walk in the woods didn't end up happening because we saw a lot of warnings online of boggy trails, slippery spots and big puddles and we didn't fancy coming home caked in mud, and so I had a nice walk around town and through my local park instead.

To keep me warm on my stroll Bon Prix had sent me this lovely Hooded Pleather Jacket (£49.99*) in the slate colourway (it's also available in pale pink and petrol blue). I was a little sceptical before it arrived as to whether a pleather hood would work but in fact I love this addition to the classic biker jacket style. I don't think it would work with a stiff natural leather but with this maliable pleather it hangs nicely and doesn't go into an odd shape when worn up. The jacket and hood are both lined with a super soft jersey which adds not just extra warmth but makes it a lovely piece to wear and very comfortable against your skin which you'll know if you own a standard biker jacket, isn't always the case. The slate grey colour is just fab, something different to the normal black but not a crazy colour that limits your outfit options - I must confess I do love it with my grey hair too! This is a really wonderful piece and one that I love a lot more than I thought I would. Having had it for only a few days I can already see it become a staple part of my A/W wardrobe for it's versatility and comfort - well done Bon Prix!

I decided to team the jacket with my go to outfit for when I'll be out on my feet for a while - jeans, a tee and some ankle boots. I managed to grab myself one of the new style #effyourbeautystandards tees designed by Nick Holliday from Tess's stand at Curve Fashion Festival a few weeks ago and I'm so glad I did. I adore the new edgy print that puts the message across more clearly than the last, more feminine swirly design (which I did also love). I did my usual thing of cutting it into a slash neck as I find that far more comfortable and flattering to my torso shape. Stretchy black high waisted jeans and some suede ankle boots finished the outfit and to protect my eyes from the unexpected sunlight I grabbed my new favourite Le Specs sunnies which were a birthday present from my parents - this style is called 'Villain' which just makes me love them even more!

If like me you are a Totoro fan and want a phone case like this, I got mine on eBay for £2.50 - just search for 'totoro silicone iphone case'! I know it looks massive but it's actually really comfortable to use!
