Taking Risks

You know my favourite thing about fashion? It's how creative it lets you be. I find mixing up and layering different pieces such fun and when you hit on a look that you love it's like hitting the clothes jackpot. A key part of being able to do this is to have a few simple layering pieces in your wardrobe, go for different lengths, different textures, different fabric styles and thicknesses. I find the easiest way to get into this is to buy dark colours in plain styles that can easily be mixed and matched with other more colourful or more patterned pieces. One of my new favourite layering pieces is this maxi length sleeveless shirt from Yours Clothing. It's plain black and made of a lovely sheer chiffon so it can easily be combined into countless outfits!

With this look I decided to take it casual but with a bit of an edge brought by the bold monochrome tribal print, the body chain and skinny high waisted jeans. I really love this look as it's comfortable but eye catching and unusual, plus if you're new to the world of crop tops this is a good way to ease yourself in as you have another layer over the top that doesn't detract from and hide the fact that you're wearing a crop!
