Roll Neck Top - VeryKhaki Skirt - VeryBag - Pied A TerreShoes - Simply Be
I've adored black and white stripes for as long as I can remember, but for so long I avoided wearing them. It's one of those pathetic 'fashion rules' that are rammed down your throat by what feels like every media outlet alone - I remember vividly reading an article in a magazine at around age 9 that told me 'if you're over a size ten you should never wear stripes as it makes you look fatter'. Sadly, this stuck in my head and I didn't wear a stripe until I hit my punk phase at around 15/16 and I filled my wardrobe with tartan, stripes, camo and basically anything my favourite bands wore.
As I've grown older my love for the black and white stripe has never died away and I now own pencil skirt, midi skirts, dressing, sweaters, tees and now this lovely roll neck top all adorned with the Beetlejuice-esque print. Being monochrome it goes with any colour but this time I decided to team it with a nice refined shade of grey toned khaki. Both of these lovely pieces were random finds that immediately caught my eye when I was browsing Very - I have to say there are lots of pieces on there at the moment that I really love but these two just had to be mine.
The skirt is lovely and soft and made of a mid weight fabric although beware that this has no stretch - I sized up to get a more relaxed fit. I adore the front split style and the gold hardware on the tie belt, but sadly as you can see it creases like a bugger - I had ironed this and let it hang overnight, sat to eat my breakfast in it the next morning and this was the result. Not a problem if you'll be on your feet all day but perhaps one to avoid if you enjoy sitting like a normal human, although I do still love it and will wear it because well, its cute.
