Sweet as Summer

Well isn't this a turn up for the books, I'm wearing not a single piece of black clothing! Girl I can tell you that does not happen very often, but I felt that this gorgeous skirt deserved a palette of pale candy like colours to let it sing.

This beauty is the Collection Ivory Devore Skirt (£20.00) from Evans, a stunning knee to midi length style with a delicate but different semi sheer overlay. I really like the design in the devore overlay, it's both art deco inspired and modern at the same time adding interest to what could have been a fairly boring skirt. There is an opaque lining which finishes above the knee and it features some really wonderfully placed and sized pleats/darts to give extra volume and shape. This isn't a stretchy piece and so you need to pick the right size, I got my usual 24 and found it bang on. The only thing I would wish for would be more length to both the underlay and overlay taking it to mid calf level, though this is personal preference and because my 'bum shelf' makes things appear shorter at the back so that would just make it a little more comfortable for me.

Unfortunately the other pieces I'm wearing here are all old - a stretch floral bandeau top from Dorothy Perkins, a pink sequin cardigan/bolero from New Look Inspire and low heeled peach suede pumps from Office. But hey, if you want to recreate this it just means you can do more shopping right? Lipstick is Mother from the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick collection by Kat Von D Beauty.
