Hi loves, I hope you're having a good week so far. I'm off up north with work today and I'm a liiiittle nervous about how it's gonna go, so keep your fingers crossed for me that it goes ok!

This is a cute little outfit that I'm really loving at the moment because it's so warm and comfy but super cute at the same time! I've been wanting some kind of eyelash sweater or cardigan for a good while now but I've found that any pieces I've been really drawn to have been well over the amount I'd be happy to pay for a cardigan.

This lovely little sweater was just £10 from Primark and I'm kinda regretting not buying the blush pink version too! It's so soft and warm and the colour is really pretty - I love pale blue with my blonde hair. It reminds me a little of vintage mohair sweaters like the one that SJP wears in Ed Wood, which Johnny Depp then wears too...! It's a great kitschy movie you should give it a watch if you haven't yet!

I decided to team the sweater with my ever faithful Claire Richards velour skirt from Fashion World and one of my favourite brooches, this happy little gold fox! I bought him at a vintage fair although I don't think he's very old at all - I actually found a turquoise enamelled version on Etsy which you can find here!

It's no secret to anyone that pink is one of my favourite colours. I know that's the stereotype for girls, but it goes really well with my skin tone and my pale blonde hair, and it makes me feel cutesy and chic and feminine so I just love it. Happily for me, pink is the big colour of the season so there are lots of pretty rosey shades available for me to choose from at the moment! Here are my top picks of what is available at the moment!

Well I'm not sure about where you are, but here it was actually quite sunny on Saturday! The wind had a chill but if you were in the sun it was roasting hot, so I needed something light but that covered me up a little to stop that chill getting right to my bones. I decided to bust out my lovely green poppy dress which has been a staple piece of my SS wardrobe ever since I bought it (and the identical red version) from Yours Clothing a few years ago.

I've worn this dress and the red version for so many different occasions - to weddings, to the pub on a nice sunny Saturday, for a picnic at Bradgate Park - it really is very versatile as it can be oh so easily dressed up or down. The nice crochet style shrug is also an old Yours purchase which has served me well over the years. I did also buy a red version at the time but sadly I can't find that one anywhere. I love the purple and green colour combo as it reminds me of old creature feature movies which I love so much.

Sadly neither of these items are available any more, nor is the handbag which was a TK Maxx purchase which I had forgotten about until I was having a rummage through my bag shelf last week. I bought it with the intention of removing the metal heart from the centre of the bow, but unfortunately I can't figure out how to do it! I might see if I can get my dad on the task he'll probably be able to figure it out...

My only complaint with this dress would have to be that the fabric creases SO easily. Within about five minutes of having it on the skirt becomes a bit wrinkly and when you sit down you definitely get up again to find creases under your bum, but I'm not that fussed by this unless I'm at a formal event in which case I give it a blast under the hand dryer while pulled taught which seems to flatten it out again.

I've been playing around with some new hair styles this weekend and have got a new found love for applying this John Frieda Boost Mousse to my roots before blow drying and putting my rollers in as it means I can get height and volume to my roots without having to back comb. I've also been applying macadamia oil to the end of my hair and using a taming shine serum and my poor bleached hair is feeling lots better for it, I'm definitely going to keep up this routine.

I decided to wear one of my MUA Cosmetics Velvet Lip Lacquers in the shade Kooky with this outfit as it matched the shrug perfectly! If I'm wearing all black this colour makes me look a bit too goth-tastic for my liking, but teamed with feminine lines and colours it works wonderfully. These babies are only £3 each and are available in five colours. They've quickly become one of my favourite pieces in my make-up kit and I can't wait to get all five!

Hello my lovelies, happy Sunday to you all! As I mentioned in my last post, I had a very busy few days in London last week and part of the fun was attending an event at Anna Scholz's studio hosted by Simply Be to preview the new SS14 collection!

It was a dream visiting Anna's actual design studio and seeing how her and her team work. It was a lovely bright airy space which was alive with colour thanks to the beautiful printed fabrics and designs covering the walls and clothes rails all throughout the rooms. We also met Anna's gorgeous little dog Frida who was just adorable - if you follow Anna on Twitter or Facebook I'm sure you will know who I'm talking about!

I was a little overwhelmed at meeting so many beautiful blogger babes at this event, there was so many of us milling around trying on the gorgeous designs and eating delicious little pastries and cakes - I wish I had taken more photos but there was so much to see and so many people to talk to that I got all of a dither and forgot to snap as much as I would have liked! I was kind of star struck at meeting Anna and some of my blogging idols so to speak too, it was just lovely.

Rosie and I were great fans of this lovely sequin vest which is part of the Anna Scholz for Simply Be range, I do love Rosie she's the sweetest and we always have great fun together!

Here's lovely Lauren wearing the jacket which was the buzz of the event - I tried it on and it's to die for, made of the softest mint green leather with the most gorgeous embroidered flowers and flutterbys - the striped collar and cuff detailing is such a great pop of interest too.

I loved these leopard print heels - I wish I couldn't only wear heels with ankle straps as I love a good court shoe! You can find Anna's footwear range for Simply Be here.

Here's a photo care of lovely Katie of me trying on this fab Double Silk Wrapover Dress - it was so soft and smooth and felt lovely against my skin, it would be just perfect for high Summer as it'd be lovely and cool in the heat.

Above are my favourite pieces from Anna's new collection, the red cape dress being my absolute top pick. I adore capes, they're oh so chic and it's fab to see one being used in such a fresh modern way!

Aren't these lingerie pieces stunning? The gorgeous shade of the green with the black lace makes me think of beautiful Victorian gowns. You can find the other pieces from Anna's lingerie range for Simply Be here.

I had a marvellous time at the event and big thanks to Anna Scholz and Simply Be for inviting me and to the other lovely bloggers who were so kind and friendly.

Fingers crossed that soon I'll be sharing an outfit post in the gorgeous red cape dress - I've dropped many a hint to my chap about how much I love it!!!
Twinsies!

Boy was last week a busy one! Revising for my upcoming exam, work, my Gran's funeral and two trips to London sure made it a bit of an emotional rollercoaster of a week but predominantly it was a nice one, seeing family that I don't get to see often and even meeting the absolutely beautiful Claire Richards at the launch tea party for her SS14 collection!

I was lucky enough to meet up with one of my favourite lil ladys Rosie when I got off my train at St Pancras and we headed off together to the Haymarket Hotel where the party was taking place. We had a bit of a struggle finding the venue, both glued to Google Maps and both getting confused, but eventually we found a notice on a lovely town house door and ventured into the warmth to find some very pretty ladies in Claire Richards attire who offered us a very delicious teacup cocktail and showed us to a little parlour where we could have an Essie manicure. I had just done my nails in a sparkle gel paint so rather than make the poor girls attempt to remove it I had a few drinkies while Rosie had hers painted a gorgeous lilac. I also met the lovely Katie, Hollie and Sally for the first time who are all absolute dolls! After the pampering we headed upstairs to where the real action was...

We entered a bustling but beautiful lounge and were greeted by a plethora of cakes, jellies and meringues, the delightful Fashion World PR team and style queen Hilary Alexander who was just lovely. She told me she loved my look and my dress which naturally was a big ego boost coming from a maven like her! We squeezed around the corner bagging ourselves a prime spot to view Hilary and Claire's discussion about the new collection and nattered about how stunning the little house was - seriously it was like a dream, perfectly furnished and decorated and just ideal for this type of event.

It really was great to hear Claire speak about the collection. You'd be forgiven for thinking that a lot of celebrities don't actually have anything to do with products or clothing ranges that they bring out but this isn't the case with Claire, you could hear her passion for each and every piece as she described the detailing of each one. She had clearly put a lot of time and effort into making sure each piece was perfect not just in the cut and fit but also with the fabrics that were used, she told us that a lot of the pieces are inspired by vintage pieces she has that just aren't quite right so she wanted to make a perfected version of them - what a dream to be able to do that! I especially love the ensemble above of the tweed dress and white coat, it's so Audrey Hepburn!

After the talk Claire came over to us and asked what we thought about the collection - we all agreed that we just love it. There was a lot of talk over the skinny jeans from the collection and I know we are all now desperate to try them, Claire assured us that she rejected some of the denims offered until she found one that held it's shape and didn't go baggy after a while and how the higher waist make them so much comfier than other jeans. As I have never found jeans that I feel comfortable in I'd definitely like to give them a go, maybe they will convert me into a jeans girl!

Thank you so much to Claire and Fashion World for the opportunity to attend this wonderful event, I had such a wonderful time and met some truly lovely people and I was really happy that I got to tell Claire how much I loved this and her previous collection. It means a lot to me when I find several pieces from a collection that I like and can wear regularly and Claire and Fashion World have hit the nail on the head with their collaboration - I just can't wait for more!

I love a happy surprise. You know, when you're expecting something to really suck and then it turns out to be pretty darn cool. That happened to me on Friday when I was in London with my lil sis and we were strolling down Carnaby Street on our way to Illamasqua. I've often wandered past Make Up Store and peeped through the window to try and see the goodies they have on offer but never ventured in before, mainly I think because I've never read a review of their products or been recommended any of their products by a friend or in a magazine. This time though, sis spotted some lashes through the window and wanted to check them out so we nipped through the door and in amongst the brightly lit shelves.

As Laura looked at the lashes I wandered over to the lipsticks and lip glosses and spotted some amazing bright fuscias. I turned around to show one of them to Laura and spotted a tower of little pots glittering away in the first aisle and headed straight for them. There was a veritable rainbow shimmering there and we immediately started trying out all the colours ending up with hands covered in glitzy streaks of colour - I genuinely could have bought them all right then and there but decided to pick out three (originally I was going to grab just two but then the sales lady told me they had 20% off that day so I went for broke and grabbed another colour too). The colours I chose were 'Bronze Sepia' a wonderfully metallic antiquey bronze, 'Hot' a beautiful shimmery rose gold and 'Empire' a deep sparkling mauve.

The metallic shimmer to all of these colours is just dreamy. Used straight from the pot they give a really nice, blendable layer of colour which can be built up to create a bolder pop - I've found that applying them with a brush gives a mush subtler finish than applying with your ring finger so if you want a stronger look try applying that way. Today I am actually wearing Empire as a liquid liner - just wet your brush a little and mix it into a bit of the powder until you have a bright shiny liquid and then apply as you would a normal liner. Applied this way it's almost like having liquid metal around your eyes and if you choose the right shade can really emphasise the colour of your eyes.

I'm not massively keen on the containers - I actually got two different kinds one with a central hole to let the poweder through which has a click down plastic shield to stop it escaping (I did like that bit) and the other with a turn top like you would get on talcum powder that you twist to open and let some of the colour out, however because of the design when you closed it after you were done it brought through quite a large amount of the powder into the open top so results in a little poof of lost colour whenever you open it again. Not a major issue, but I would prefer if it was just an open top like with other powder pigments I have tried.

I'm not sure if I had a duff batch or maybe it's just because it's a new pot, but my Empire is much darker and less metallic when used dry as the tester was in the store which I was really disappointed by. There is some black shadow mixed in with the metallic purple and I think maybe too much was added to my batch because it kind of kills the shine as you can see from the picture above. When you add water it dies down and the metal sheen comes back though so it's not a lost cause.

The price point on these isn't too bad at £11 a pot as you only use a little at a time, however when going on the site to link to the eyedust's I realised that you can't buy online so if you want some you'll have to head to Carnaby Street to the store. Next time I'm there I'm going to check out the lipsticks a little more closeley and take a look at their skincare range too.

Hopefully I'll have a few more chances to play with these over the coming weeks and will learn better ways to use them and perfect blending them together - if I come up with anything good I'll make sure I share pictures.

I was a teenage goth. Black hair, spiderweb eyeliner, ankhs, New Rock boots, black velvet skirts - the works. My idols were Siouxsie Sioux, Morticia Adams, Tairrie B and Lily Munster - but I sadly never managed to look that glamorous. I've never lost my love for the dark and dramatic but I like to think that now I can project that look in a more mature, chic and less teenage rebel kind of a way.

I was taking a virtual stroll through the ASOS Curve range the other day going through and opening anything that looked interesting in another tab as I always do, and when I went to look at my picks I realised that they were all devilishly pretty and deep hued and oh so sexy in very different ways - bodycons to hug your curve, skater styles to nip in your waist and accentuate your hips, maxi dresses with slits and cut out to flash a lovely peek of skin and silky flowing wrap dresses that draw your mind to slinky negligees and beautiful vintage silk dressing gowns.

I think my favourite piece from the above is number 14, the baroque embellished skater dress as it reminds me so much of Dolce & Gabbana's Fall 12/13 show which I absolutely ADORED - you can, sorry should, watch the whole thing here and marvel at the gorgeous embroidery, gold threading and crowns, renaissance like floral prints and delicate laces and toiles.

Hi babies! So, as usual, I'm pretty strapped for cash this Valentines Day. February is a super busy month for me with both my little sister and my boyfriend's birthdays, and this month I also have my SIL's hen do and two trips to London so the pennies are definitely tighter than usual this year! Because of this I'm having to be a little smarter with my money, so rather than buy my Pete a present I thought I'd bake him up something delicious instead. The thing is though, that I am super busy with hen do preparations, blogging and revising for my exam at the end of the month so I don't have a lot of spare time, therefore making pastry from scratch or whipping up a fancy cake batter just isn't an option. So I figured to cut down on time I'd whip something up with pre-made pastry. No it isn't a sin to use pre-made, in fact a lot of chefs use pre-made puff as it takes such a long time to make it from scratch, and as long as you use the all butter variety you won't end up with something that tastes like its from Greggs.

These little heart shaped treats are filled with a gooey chocolatey, mallowy filling with a hint of cinnamon so they taste a lot like that delicious American treat s'mores which my man is ever so fond of. As it's kinda hard to find graham crackers over here I tried to mimic the flavour by using some of my new favourite Lotus Spread and a shake of ground cinnamon and the results were delicious, but you could mix it up a little and use peanut butter instead or even nothing, although that might make it a little harder to keep the mini mallows and chocolate drops in place as there will be nothing to stick them down with!

Kept in an air tight container these babies will last 2-3 days, we warmed them up for a few minutes in the oven before eating to make sure they were nice and melty in the middle - you could try microwaving them too but then you would have a soggy pastry situation, some people like that though so it's up to you!

Chocolate and Marshmallow S'more Heart Shaped Mini Pies
Makes 4, but it depends how big your cutter is!

Ingredients
Heart shaped cookie cutter or I used an egg shaper, about 8 or 9cm in width
1 package of pre-rolled shortcrust pastry dough, preferably all butter
3 tbsp demerara sugar mixed with 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
4 tbsp Lotus spread or peanut butter (1 tbsp per pie)
50g mini marshmallows
50g chocolate drops
1 egg, lightly beaten

Method
Pre-heat your oven to the temperature your pastry states (it differs depending on the brand) and line your baking tray with baking parchment - a little tip, most pre-made pastries say you should take them out of the fridge about half an hour before you need to use them.
Lightly dust your worktop with a little flour and carefully unroll your pastry, then use your cutter to lightly press out where you will cut your heart shapes like you can see in the top picture - this means you can plan where you'll cut so you don't end up with too little pastry, you need two hearts per pie. When you've got it mapped out correctly start cutting for real and remove the excess pastry. Just throw these scraps onto another baking tray, you can bake them up with the pies and have some little pie scrap treats as your cooks perk!
Grab a fork and prick holes on half of your cut hearts, then take the un-pricked ones and place them on your lined baking sheet. They won't expand so no need to leave lots of space between them. Next take a tablespoon of Lotus spread or peanut butter and smooth it over the middle of the hearts on your baking tray - don't take it to the edges of the pasted you want at least a 1cm border of plain pastry left at the edges.
Now take your mallows and press them into the spread so they stick, you only want a single layer don't pile them up, then pile some chocolate drops on the top. Use as many as you want but remember you'll have to stretch your second pastry tart over them and if the choco-mallow pile is too high it might tear!
Grab your beaten egg and brush a little over the plain pastry edges you have left around the filling using a pastry brush or just your finger if you don't have one, and then take one of the fork pricked hearts and carefully stretch it over the filling sticking the edges together. To make sure they stay sealed take a fork and press the tines around the edges.
Take the beaten egg and brush a little over the tops of your pies before sprinkling them generously with the demerara cinnamon mix and you're done! Just pop them in the oven until they're gold brown and crisp - mine took about 17 minutes in my fan oven at 180C but as I say, check your pastry's instructions. Allow them to cool before packaging them up nicely for your beloved!

Oh dear my lovelies, I thought I already had a flowery dress at the number one spot in my wardrobe but now this beautiful new number is vying for that top spot and doing a very good job! If you're a regular reader you'll know I absolutely adore Scarlett and Jo and all the pieces they bring out, they are always perfectly engineered to make you feel a million bucks and this darling floral prom dress is no exception.

This posy covered delight is part of the Spring Romance collection which celebrates Scarlett and Jo's first anniversary. I'm ever so excited after reading the press release as the collection is inspired by their vintage print archives and will feature 1940's style wrap dresses as well as the floral 1950's prom styles. I absolutely cannot wait to see the 1940's style pieces!

As is usual with S&J the fabrics used to construct this baby are top notch - great thickness and softness and great bold colours combined with a super soft mesh over the chest and arms. One of the details with a lot of mesh topped S&J dresses is the super sexy 'v' at the back which I especially love as it shows off my tattoos! You can also see here that the mesh stops at the perfect place so it doesn't show your bra clasp - this is a particular pet peeve of mine as plus size ladies often have bigger busts and going bra-less is just a no go, so pieces that are so low that they show the back of your bra are pretty much pointless unless you'll be wearing a cardigan or jacket over them.

The length is perfect, sitting just below the knee. This dress also features a built in satiny petticoat to give the skirt some of that iconic 50's full skirted shape which works perfectly with the sweetheart bust detailing and adorable little sash to the waist which you can tie into a bow and wear in any position.

The print too I think is very lovely - I really like how it isn't a photo precise and overly busy print which a lot of modern repro vintage florals can be. The painted style of the roses is very authentic as are the palette of colours used, but the mesh and black background give it a nice nudge into the 21st Century.

Sorry about the strings!!!!

Make sure you keep an eye out for the other pieces in the Spring Romance collection too, I really can't wait to see them!

While browsing the Simply Be site the other day I came across a dress and just fell in love, the dress in question being the beautiful oriental style floral print dress above. It's such a dreamy shape and I adore the orange and purple together with the pretty white cherry blosson print and thick obi-like waistband. It would be just perfect for a orient inspired pin-up look with cat eye liner, bid bold lipstick and a giant hair flower. It's part of Grazia's new collection and oh my are there some great pieces there! The bold monochrome graphic of the maxi dress above is set off perfectly by the bright zesty yellow green, I think it would be fabulous for strolling around a Greek island on holiday.

The peacock like print of this pencil dress is beautiful and would be equally at home as a wedding guest dress as it would be a perfect as sassy office wear. The zip front illusion dress just oozes sexy and would be a wonderful number for a night out on the town with some killer heels and statement earrings. This black and pink halter is glamorous beach wear at its best but would also make you the bell of any barbecue - bring on the Summer!

I think this jumper may be from last season's collection but I still love it and like this beautiful biker jacket works the metallic and black trend to the max. I'm pretty obessed with the biker jacket as I missed out on a few similar styles last year that had glittery or sequined sleeves - fingers crossed I get a bonus in March and then it will be miiiiiine!

Grazia also do some truly fabulous shoes - if I was more comfortable in high heels I would definitley have at least two of the pairs above!

Have you ever bought a Grazia piece? I've not tried anything from them before so I'd like to hear how the sizing runs and how the quality of the fabric is!

Hi lovelies! Today I'm here with a review of one of my favourite new lipsticks and I also thought that seeing as we're coming up to Valentines Day that I would give one of these lippies away to a lucky winner as it's the perfect shade of flirty pink for getting some lovin!

The lippy in question is by Illamasqua, a brand that if you are a regular reader you will know is one of my favourites at the moment. Prior to this lipstick I had only ever tried their lashes, loose pigments and the famous hydra veil. I can't believe it took me so long to make a lippy purchase considering the amazing range of bold, unique colours that Illamasqua offer.

Seeing as I'm on my usual pink kick for Spring (or at least wishing Spring would hurry up and get here) I decided to try the shade Immodest which I had read positive reviews of on quite a few blogs and I knew was a blue-toned pink - blue-toned colours work nicely with my pale skin and bring out the colour of my eyes as well as having that magical power of making your teeth look a little whiter.

The colour pay off of this lipstick is pretty amazing, with just one good sweep giving you a full cover of highly pigmented colour - as well as making it super quick to apply this means you don't have to use as much so it last longer than other lipsticks where you need a few passes to get the amount of colour you need. It is also a really long lasting lipstick, it lasted about 5 hours for me without having to re-apply and then that was only because I had eaten lunch.

One thing to be aware of is that this is a true matte lipstick so if you have dry or cracked lips it will stick to those areas and make them really obvious. This is a quick fix though, to ensure my lips are smooth and lippy ready I just use a bit of my homemade lip scrub (recipe here!) and apply a really thin layer of moisturising lip balm, giving it a few minutes to sink in before applying the lipstick itself.

Some people have commented that they find Illamasqua lipsticks too solid and a little hard to apply but I must say I didn't find that to be the case. After doing my initial swatch on the back of my hand which removed the perfect polished brand new lippy surface it applied to my lips just fine and I didn't struggle getting the colour off the bullet at all. Oh, and the glossy black Illamasqua packaging is super sexy too!

I will most definitely be buying more shades from Illamasqua's range and am very excited to visit the flagship store in a few weeks when I take my lil sis to London for her 21st - I just wish I could afford for us both to do one of the make-up classes while we're there!

As I loved this shade so much and like to share the joy I thought I'd give away a brand new tube of Immodest to one lucky winner which will be posted in time to give said person the perfect pink pout for Valentines Day!

To enter just complete as many of the entries as you wish in the form below, and don't forget that you can come back and do some entries once a day to get yourself more chances of winning! The competition runs from now until midnight on the 11th February so I can post it out in time.

Apologies to my international readers but this one is for UK entrants only as I wouldn't be able to get it to you in time for Valentines Day, sorry!

Good luck!

Happy Monday everyone, I hope you're not feeling too disheartened that it's the start of a new work week. I'm kicking off the week by sharing the two outfits I put together as part of the Marisota SS14 Style Challenge. The lovely people at Marisota sent me this gorgeous panelled lace print blouse by Truly Wow and asked me to style it into an outfit. I actually used it in two different outfits, one a look for the office and the other a look for the weekend.

For my office look I teamed it with another Marisota purchase from last year, this lovely bright blue pencil skirt with black contrast trim and for the weekend look I wore it with my new stripey ASOS Curve midi skirt. I really love how this blouse can be worn as a formal look for work or as a smart casual option with a more relaxed style skirt or jeans.

The blouse itself is made of a gorgeous silky soft polyester printed with a lovely lace look pattern and accented with black panels to the sides and contrasting collar and cuffs. The print is really nice and it's such a great versatile piece, the monochrome look making it really easy to wear as it can be teamed with pretty much any colour.

The black illusion panels at either side really are magical in the way that they make you appear slimmer and define your shape better, they really make the pattern pop too! Here's a better look at the pretty lace print, I love how it's more of an abstract drawn lace effect rather than a perfect reproduction of some lace.

As you can see from the picture below this is actually a long line blouse with a dipped back and looks gorgeous worn over jeans. Unfortunately I find jeans the most uncomfortable thing ever so this wouldn't be a look for me even though I think it's a great smart casual look - a nice waist belt would look swell with it too and add even  more definition to your waist.

Another nice touch is the placket hiding the buttons which not only makes the blouse front more streamlined but helps with the dreaded 'button bulge' that can occur if you have a larger bosom!

You can buy this lovely blouse right here priced at £35, a great price for such a lovely and well designed piece.

Have a great week everyone!

Polka dots are a real classic pattern and are back in this season with a vengeance, they do tend to come back most springs as they are a pretty, feminine pattern that can be used in so many ways and they add a playful, cheery look to any outfit. Here are my picks of the polka dot items around at the moment, you'll see that dots have been used in lots of diffferent ways to give different effects, all of them pretty and chic.
